How to Apply

1. Visit the OJAS portal (ojas.gujarat.gov.in), select "Online Application" then "Apply", and choose GSSSB.
2. Select Advertisement No. 349/2025-26 (Municipal Sanitary Inspector, Class-3) and click Apply.
3. Click "Apply Now", then "Skip" to open the application form, and fill in the personal details (fields marked with a red asterisk are mandatory).
4. Fill in your educational qualification details.
5. Accept the declaration ("Assurance") and click Save to generate your Application Number.
6. Upload your photograph (5 cm height x 3.6 cm width) and signature (2.5 cm height x 7.5 cm width) in JPG format, each under 15 KB.
7. Click "Confirm Application" - once confirmed, no further edits are possible.
8. Note the Confirmation Number generated; it is required for all further steps.
9. Download and print a copy of the application form for your records.
10. Pay the applicable examination fee online by 29 July 2026 (11:59 PM) via Debit Card, Internet Banking, UPI, or Wallet, and save the payment receipt.

Selection Process

• Single-stage Computer-Based Response Test / OMR (CBRT/OMR) objective MCQ exam in two parts - Part A and Part B.
• Document verification for candidates meeting the qualifying marks, called at approximately twice the category-wise vacancies.
• Final selection and waiting list prepared on merit within category-wise vacancies. No separate waiting list is maintained as per the General Administration Department resolution dated 27/07/2018.

Pay Scale / Salary

Selected candidates get a fixed monthly pay of Rs. 26,000 for the first five years, along with other benefits as per applicable Finance Department resolutions. After five years, subject to satisfactory service, they become eligible for regular appointment in the 7th Pay Commission scale of Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 81,100 (Level-4), subject to the outcome of pending Supreme Court SLPs. Candidates appointed at Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation are not treated as Gujarat Government employees; after three years of satisfactory service they become eligible for the same Level-4 scale (Rs. 25,500 to Rs. 81,100 as per the corrigendum).

Exam Pattern

Combined duration for Part A and Part B is 3 hours (180 minutes). Negative marking: 1/4 mark deducted per wrong answer. Qualifying standard: minimum 40% in Part A and minimum 40% in Part B, independently, for all categories.

Additional Merit Benefits

• Widow candidates: 5% additional marks on the exam score, provided they have not remarried at the time of appointment.
• Sportspersons who represented at national/international, inter-university, or All India School Federation level in specified sports: 5% additional marks.

Required Documents

• Educational qualification certificates (HSC + Sanitary Inspector Diploma / ITI Health Sanitary Inspector Certificate)
• Birth certificate / School Leaving Certificate for age proof
• Caste/category certificate (SC/ST/SEBC/EWS) in the prescribed format, where applicable
• Non-creamy layer certificate (for SEBC candidates) or Income and Asset Certificate (for EWS candidates)
• Disability certificate (for PwD candidates, where applicable)
• Ex-servicemen identity card and discharge book (where applicable)
• Basic computer knowledge certificate, or proof of passing before appointment
• Recent passport-size photograph (white background, dated within 1 year of the last application date) and signature, in the prescribed dimensions

SEBC / EWS Certificate Validity Windows

Important Instructions

• Category (caste) details cannot be changed once the application is confirmed.
• Details filled in the application are treated as final for the entire recruitment process and must be supported by original certificates at verification.
• Foreign university degree holders must submit UGC equivalence proof at certificate verification.
• The same photograph must be used throughout the recruitment process.
• Keep the mobile number and email ID given in the application active throughout the process, as SMS alerts will be sent.
• Only one application should be submitted; if multiple applications are submitted, the last confirmed application with fee paid is considered valid and fees on cancelled applications are not refunded or adjusted.
• Malpractice, impersonation, or unfair means during the exam is punishable under the Gujarat Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2023, besides disqualification.
• Scribe/compensatory time facility (20 minutes per hour) is available for eligible PwD candidates on request, submitted at least two days before the exam.
