How to Apply

  1. Visit the official RRB application portal at rrbapply.gov.in or the website of the RRB you wish to apply to.
  2. Locate and open the link for Recruitment of Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) - CEN No. 01/2025.
  3. If you already registered for any RRB CEN in 2024 (before April 2025), log in with the same credentials; otherwise click 'Create an Account' and carefully fill basic details (Name, DOB, Father's/Mother's Name, Mobile Number, Email ID, Matriculation details) - these cannot be changed later.
  4. Use an active mobile number and a valid personal email ID for OTP verification, and complete Aadhaar authentication where possible.
  5. Log in and fill the online application form, selecting your preferred Railway Zones under the chosen RRB.
  6. Upload a recent photograph (not older than 2 months), signature and other required documents as per the specifications given.
  7. Pay the prescribed application fee online via Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card or UPI.
  8. Review all entries carefully and submit the application, then take a printout for future reference.
  9. Apply to only ONE RRB - applying to more than one RRB leads to rejection and debarment.

Selection Process

  • First Stage Computer Based Test (CBT-1) - a normalized screening test; candidates are shortlisted for CBT-2 RRB-wise at 15 times the vacancies based on CBT-1 merit.
  • Second Stage Computer Based Test (CBT-2) - comprises Part A and Part B (relevant trade), with normalized marks.
  • Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) - applicable only for the ALP post, qualifying in nature with no negative marking.
  • Document Verification (DV) - candidates provisionally shortlisted on CBT-2 (Part A) and CBAT performance have their original documents verified.
  • Medical Examination - candidates clearing DV must pass the A-1 medical fitness standard conducted by the Railway Administration.
  • Negative marking of 1/3rd mark applies for every wrong answer in both CBT-1 and CBT-2.

Medical Standards

  • Candidates must meet the A-1 Medical Standard as per the Indian Railway Medical Manual.
  • Distant Vision: 6/6, 6/6 without glasses (with fogging test); Near Vision: Sn 0.6, 0.6 without glasses.
  • Candidates must also clear Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Field of Vision, Night Vision and Mesopic Vision tests.
  • Candidates who have undergone LASIK surgery or any other surgical procedure to correct refractive error are NOT eligible for the ALP post.

CBT-2 Exam Date and City Intimation 2026

The CBT-2 examination for CEN 01/2025 (Assistant Loco Pilot) is scheduled for 28 July 2026. The Exam City & Date Intimation, along with the Travel Authority for SC/ST candidates, is released about 10 days before the exam, and the e-Call Letter (admit card) is made available about 4 days before the exam date on the respective regional RRB website.

CBT-1 Result and Cut-off

The RRB ALP CBT-1 exam was held on 13, 16, 17 and 18 February 2026, and the result along with score cards and zone-wise cut-off marks was declared on 12 June 2026 on the respective regional RRB websites. Candidates who cleared the cut-off have been shortlisted for CBT-2.

Important Notes

  • Apply to only ONE RRB; multiple applications will lead to rejection and debarment.
  • The Date of Birth mentioned in the application must match the Matriculation/SSLC certificate.
  • EBC candidates need a valid Income Certificate/BPL Card/Izzat MST for the fee concession; EBC is different from OBC/EWS and provides only a fee concession, not job reservation.
