| Educational Qualification | Trade Apprentice (ITI): ITI pass (NCVT) in the relevant trade, including Fitter, Electrician, Welder, Turner, Machinist, COPA, Electronics Mechanic, Instrument Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, Tool & Die Maker, ICTSM, Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Refrigeration & AC and other listed trades. Technician Apprentice (Diploma): Diploma in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical/Mechatronics, Metallurgy, Chemical, Computer Science, IT, Electronics & Telecommunication, Automobile and allied engineering disciplines, plus GNM Nursing, Pharmacy, DMLT and other paramedical diplomas. Graduate Apprentice: Degree in the listed engineering disciplines, or B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., BCA, BBA, B.Sc. Nursing and other listed streams. In all categories, candidates must have passed as a regular student within the last five years (2022 to 2026). |

How to Apply
- Trade (ITI) candidates should register on the NAPS/Apprenticeship India portal and search for the establishment 'SAIL Rourkela Steel Plant' to apply against the trade vacancies.
- Diploma and Graduate candidates should register as a student on the NATS portal and, under Establishment Requests, select 'Steel Authority of India Limited, Rourkela Steel Plant' for their passed-out branch/discipline.
- Fill and submit the online application on the applicable portal on or before 26 August 2026.
- Take a printout of the submitted application form for future reference.
- Attend the walk-in selection at Rourkela as per the trade-group schedule, carrying all original certificates and self-attested photocopies.
Selection Process
- Purely merit-based selection with no written exam or interview.
- Merit is prepared with 30% weightage to Class X marks and 70% weightage to ITI / Diploma / Degree marks.
- Shortlisted candidates attend a walk-in for verification of original documents and self-attested copies.
- A Medical Fitness Certificate from a government hospital is required before final engagement.

Stipend Funding & Training Details
- The one-year apprenticeship stipend is funded 50% by RSP and 50% under the Board of Practical Training in DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) mode.
- Training duration is fixed at one year under the Apprentices Act, 1961.
- The apprenticeship is a training programme and does not guarantee permanent employment with SAIL.
Important Notes
- Job location for all apprentice categories is Rourkela, Odisha.
- Candidates must not have completed any prior apprenticeship or hold one year of relevant work experience.
- Keep certificates, mark sheets, Aadhaar and a DBT-enabled bank account ready before applying.
