How to Apply
- Go to the official UPESSC website, upessc.up.gov.in, and open the link for Advertisement No. 51 (B.Ed. - Amended).
- Complete One Time Registration (OTR) and fill out the online application form carefully — no corrections are allowed once it is submitted.
- Upload a photograph and signature in the specified size and format; forms with an incorrect photo or a missing signature will be rejected.
- Pay the applicable category-wise fee online using any of the available payment modes.
- Read the bilingual (Hindi/English) user manual on the portal before filling the form.
- Candidates who had applied under the earlier advertisement dated 09.07.2022 or 23.05.2025 should re-apply using their old application number (sent to their registered mobile/email) and are not required to pay the fee again if they meet the mandatory qualification as on 31 August 2022.
Selection Process
- Written Examination — 200 marks, objective-type paper split between General Knowledge and subject-specific (B.Ed.) questions, with no negative marking.
- Interview / Departmental Assessment — 30 marks, for candidates shortlisted from the written exam.
- Final Merit List — prepared out of 230 marks (written exam + interview); ties are broken in favour of the older candidate by date of birth.

Reservation Rules
- Only Uttar Pradesh domicile candidates can claim SC/ST/OBC/EWS/Freedom Fighter Dependent/PwBD reservation; candidates from other states are treated as General (UR).
- A candidate eligible for more than one reserved category will get the benefit of only the single most advantageous category.
- For OBC reservation, the candidate (or family) must normally reside in UP and belong to a category listed in UP's OBC list.
- A caste certificate for a woman based on her husband's caste (SC/ST) is not accepted — only a certificate based on her father's side is valid.
- PwBD candidates need a certificate from a competent authority stating the percentage of disability.
- EWS candidates must have their Income & Asset Certificate in the prescribed format on or before the application closing date.
- Government employees must obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer; it need not be submitted at the time of application but must be produced at the interview.
- A candidate married to someone who already has a living spouse is ineligible unless specifically exempted by the Governor.
Documents Required for Reserved Categories
- SC/ST/OBC candidates need caste certificates in the formats given in Annexures 1 and 2 of the notification, obtained by the application closing date.
- EWS candidates need an Income & Asset Certificate as per Annexure 3, issued by a District Magistrate, Additional DM, SDM, Tehsildar or Pargana Magistrate.
- PwBD candidates need a disability certificate in the prescribed format (Annexure 4) from the medical board, clearly stating the disability percentage.
- Freedom Fighter Dependents need a certificate in the Annexure 5 format.
- Once the application is submitted, category, gender, date of birth and other core details cannot be changed.
Written Exam Instructions
- The exam date, venue and reporting time will be communicated via SMS, email, newspaper and the commission's website; the allotted exam centre cannot be changed.
- Candidates must carry a black ball-point pen and use only black ball-point pen on the OMR sheet — other pens, pencils and correction fluid are not allowed.
- Visually impaired candidates may use a scribe (whose qualification must not exceed Intermediate level) per UP government order dated 8 September 2022, and get 40 extra minutes; a scribe request must be registered with the commission at least a week before the exam.
- Any use of unfair means will lead to cancellation of candidature and debarment from future exams.
Interview Instructions and Documents
- Shortlisted candidates will be informed of the interview via SMS, email and newspaper.
- Original mark sheets and certificates for High School, Intermediate, Graduation, Postgraduation, B.Ed., and Ph.D./D.Phil. (if applicable) must be produced along with two self-attested copies of each.
- NET/SET/SLET certificate, JRF certificate (if applicable), and D.Litt./D.Sc./LL.D. degree (if applicable) are also required.
- Serving candidates must bring the original NOC from their current employer.
- UP-domicile reserved category candidates must bring their caste/income/PwBD/Freedom Fighter Dependent certificates as applicable.
- Character certificates from the last educational institution and two respectable persons, an identity document (Aadhaar/PAN/domicile certificate), and an affidavit on ₹10 stamp paper regarding no pending court case or conviction must also be produced.
- At the interview, candidates must also submit their online college-allotment preference order, which is binding; male candidates cannot list women's colleges in their preference, while female candidates may list either type.
