Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme
- The written exam has two papers carrying a combined total of 450 marks.
- Paper 1 - General Ability and Intelligence: objective type (MCQ), 125 questions worth 2 marks each, duration 2 hours.
- Paper 2 - General Studies, Essay and Comprehension: descriptive type, 200 marks, duration 3 hours; candidates may write the essay component in Hindi or English.
- Negative marking applies only in Paper 1: one-third (0.66 marks) is deducted for every wrong answer.
- UPSC does not issue a formal answer key for Paper 2 since it is a descriptive paper evaluated by examiners rather than matched against fixed options.
Important Notes on the Unofficial Answer Key
- Any answer key currently circulating for this exam is put out by private coaching institutes, not by UPSC, and should be treated as an unofficial estimate only.
- Unofficial keys can contain mistakes, so do not treat the score calculated from them as final or guaranteed.
- UPSC's own practice for the CAPF AC exam is to release its Paper 1 answer key only after the complete selection process - Paper 2 evaluation, PST/PET, Medical Standards Test and Interview - has concluded, unlike some other exams where a provisional key is issued soon after the test.

What Comes After the Answer Key
- Clearing the Paper 1 qualifying standard is only the first step; candidates must also appear for and clear Paper 2.
- Physical Standards Test (PST) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET) follow for candidates who qualify on the written exam.
- This is followed by a Medical Standards Test.
- The final stage is an Interview/Personality Test before the merit list is prepared.
