Short Information: UPSC is currently running the Detailed Application Form (DAF) stage of the Civil Services Examination 2026, held for 933 IAS/Civil Services posts and 80 Indian Forest Service (IFS) posts. Candidates who cleared the Preliminary Examination (held on 24 May 2026) had to submit their IAS/CSE Mains DAF between 19 and 29 June 2026, while qualified IFS candidates must confirm and submit their DAF between 13 and 22 July 2026 (6:00 PM). This DAF window is open only to Prelims-qualified candidates, not to fresh applicants; the Main written examination is scheduled for 21-23 and 29-30 August 2026.

Each exam day has a forenoon session (9:00 AM - 12:00 Noon) and an afternoon session (2:30 PM - 5:30 PM).

Current Application Status (as on 21 July 2026)

The Mains DAF window for IAS/Civil Services candidates has already closed (29 June 2026). The Mains DAF window for Indian Forest Service (IFS) candidates opened on 13 July 2026 and closes on 22 July 2026 at 6:00 PM — this deadline is imminent. IFS Main-qualified candidates who have not yet updated/confirmed and submitted their DAF should do so immediately, as UPSC has stated that candidates who fail to comply will not be allowed to participate in further stages of the examination. This DAF stage is open only to candidates already declared qualified in the Preliminary Examination result (declared 15 June 2026) — it is not a fresh application window for new candidates.
